Serena Williams takes a horse drawn carriage around New York City with husband Alexis Ohanian… after withdrawing from the U.S. Open

While the U.S. Open winds down in Queens, Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian decided to take a horse drawn carriage in Manhattan.

Williams, 39, was spotted in a carriage going through Central Park on Sunday afternoon with her husband of nearly five years.

The superstar shocked the tennis world in August when she and her sister Venus Williams withdrew from the major tournament.

Serena was wearing a red short-sleeved Gucci shirt, while staying safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic with a blue face mask.

She also wore a pair of black sunglasses and wore a blue Brooklyn Dodgers New Era baseball cap for her outing.

She completed her look with black leggings, white sandals and a brown Gucci purse during the outing.

Ohanian was spotted wearing a black t-shirt and grey shorts as he rode in the carriage with his wife.

Unlike his wife, Ohanian didn’t wear a face mask, though he was also seen wearing a light black puffer coat.

The Reddit co-founder was all smiles while hanging out with his wife, on the same day that the U.S. Open came to a close.

Serena took to Instagram on August 25 to announce she was withdrawing from the U.S. Open, while sister Venus made her announcement through social media too.

‘After careful consideration and following the advice of my doctors and medical team, I have decided to withdraw from the US Open to allow my body to heal completely from a torn hamstring,’ she said.

‘New York is one of the most exciting cities in the world and one of my favorite places to play—I’ll miss seeing the fans but will be cheering everyone on from afar,’ she added.

‘Thank you for your continued support and love. I’ll see you soon,’ Williams concluded.

Williams is considered by many to be the greatest female tennis player of all time with 23 Grand Slam singles titles.

That tally is the most in the Open Era and the second most all time, just one behind Margaret Court’s 24 titles.
