EasyJet holidays became the first major UK tour operator to sign up to The Future of Tourism Coalition.
The tour operator recently became the first in the UK to offset carbon emissions from its package holidays – comprising fuel used for flights and in-destination transfers, as well as the energy used from hotel stays.
The Future of Tourism Coalition comprises 13 Guiding Principles which focus on the wellbeing of destinations and communities.
These include collaborating in destination management, choosing quality over quantity, demanding fair income distribution and mitigating climate impacts.
Garry Wilson, CEO at easyJet holidays, said: “As a young business we set out to put sustainability at the heart of what we do and, given the challenging circumstances over the last year and a half we think it’s even more important that we all do everything we can to support a positive future for tourism.”
