Later, in its Friday evening’s electronic mail, the airline clarified to the workers: “At this time, we intend to run this (pay cut) through the year 2020-21.”

On the query if unique pay could be restored every time this pay minimize is repealed, the airline mentioned: “As a company, we will be fair to our employees and do the right thing at the right time. We will make a decision closer to the end of this financial year.”

Mr Dutta had introduced on March 19 that the airline was instituting pay cuts for senior workers and he would himself take the very best minimize of 25 per cent amid the COVID-19 pandemic that has hit the aviation trade exhausting.

“I am personally taking a 25 per cent pay cut, SVPs (senior vice presidents) and above are taking 20 per cent, VPs (vice presidents) and cockpit crew are taking a 15 per cent pay cut, AVPs (assistant vice presidents), Bands D along with cabin crew will take 10 per cent and Band Cs five per cent,” Mr Dutta had mentioned on March 19.
